Shapen showing estimated body fat, weight, waist and chest beside a progress chart

Camera

Every progress photo lines up with the last.

Last week’s photo sits faintly over the camera, so you step into the same pose and distance every time. Front, side and back, with a timer when you need it.

Compare

Before and after, any two weeks.

Scrub back through every week on the timeline, or wipe a slider between two photos. Put them side by side, or stitch them into one card to share.

Progress

Track weight and body measurements, a chart for each.

Log weight, waist, chest, hips and your own measurements beside every photo. Each number gets its own chart, kept in step with Apple Health.

Shapen measurements: estimated body fat 18.5%, weight 82.4 kg, waist, chest and forearm, with a weight chart toward an 81 kg goal

Why Shapen

Built for body recomposition: the weeks the scale won’t move, but your body does.

Estimated body fat of 18.5% beside weight, waist and chest in Shapen

Body fat estimate

Apple Intelligence estimates it from your photo, with a likely range. Made for following the trend, not a measurement.

A Coach note in Shapen: waist looks narrower, on track with 49 days to goal, and one next step

Coach

A short, kind note after every entry, written on your iPhone. It never sees your photos or sets calorie targets.

Shapen widgets on the Home Screen: weight and estimated body fat trends

Widgets

Days to goal, your weight trend and before and after on your Home and Lock Screens.

Shapen actions in the Shortcuts app: log video, compare, weekly averages and Coach

Siri and Shortcuts

“Log a photo in Shapen.” Log, compare or hear from Coach without opening the app.

Privacy

Private by design.

No account and no Shapen server. Your photos stay on your iPhone, and in your own iCloud if you turn on sync.

No account

Open the app and start. There’s nothing to sign up for and nothing to log in to.

Your iCloud, if you want it

Optional sync uses your own private iCloud, so iPhone and iPad stay in step.

The one photo that leaves your iPhone

The body fat estimate sends a photo to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute, which works it out and keeps nothing. A photo taken in clothes is never sent.

Coach stays on your iPhone

Coach runs on the device with Apple Intelligence and reads only your saved numbers.

Locked when you want

App Lock with Face ID, blurred photos, blank screenshots and discreet app icons.

iPhone Duo

Made for iPhone Duo.

Open it and your before sits on one half, your after on the other. Stand it half-folded and it becomes its own tripod for the weekly photo.

  • Before and after, facing halves
  • Tripod when half-folded
  • Pose guide on the outer display
  • Nothing on the hinge
  • One layout, folded or open
  • Made for iOS 27.1

FAQs

Questions, answered.

Everything to know before your first photo.

How often should I take progress photos?

Once a week is enough. Same day, same time, same light. Weekly photos show change that daily ones hide, and Shapen can remind you.

Are my progress photos private?

Yes. There’s no Shapen account and no Shapen server. Photos are saved on your iPhone and, if you turn on sync, in your own iCloud. One feature, the body fat estimate, sends a photo to Apple’s Private Cloud Compute to work out the estimate, and Apple keeps nothing.

How do I take good progress photos?

Use the same spot, the same light and the same clothes each week. Shapen shows a faint outline of last week’s photo in the camera, so you can step into the same pose and distance every time.

What is body recomposition?

Losing fat and building muscle at the same time. The scale can stay almost flat for weeks while your body changes, which is why photos and measurements tell you more than weight alone.

Is Shapen free?

Yes. The weekly photo diary is free to download. Shapen Pro adds Compare, the body fat estimate, Coach and iCloud sync, as a subscription or a one-off purchase.

Which devices does Shapen work on?

iPhone and iPad with iOS 27 or later, including iPhone Duo. The body fat estimate and Coach use Apple Intelligence, so they need a device that supports it.

Does Coach see my photos?

No. Coach runs on your iPhone with Apple Intelligence and reads only your saved numbers. It writes a short, kind note and never sets calorie targets or diet rules.

How accurate is a body fat estimate from a photo?

It’s an estimate, not a measurement. Treat it as a trend: the same pose and light each week make the line meaningful. For a clinical number, use a DEXA scan.
